Le Negresco opens private beach club & restaurant
There's new 5-star address on the Promenade des Anglais! Le Negresco Hotel celebrated the official opening of its own private beach, offering Nice a classy space to enjoy the sun.
The Negresco Hotel has opened a refined new Beach Club on the Promenade des Anglais, offering a respite from the crowds of tourists and street performers. Nice is undeniably a gorgeous city, long adored by the upper echelons of society, from Russian aristocrats to the British monarchy, Italian Dukes and Duchesses to presidents of nations. Everyone loves to sojourn in the bright, sun-soaked capital of the French Riviera. But with the passage of centuries, modern life has altered the city that was once a quiet winter destination to its present-day metropolis. Today, Nice can be more than a bit chaotic, especially in the summer season with tourist groups, gridlock traffic and blazing temperatures.
Thankfully, Le Negresco has newly opened their own private beach, just steps from the historic palace hotel, decorated with lush plants and clean white with hues of calming sage green. From your shaded table for lunch, or your soft beach bed, you can admire unobstructed views of the Baie des Anges and its sparkling azur water.
Designed as a “botanical garden by the sea” in the tradition of the Belle Époque (1900s), the beach club has been designed by architect AL. b in the same spirit of excellence as Le Negresco itself. The architect and designer, Anne Laure Blondé, who is DESA HMNOP certified, has indeed envisioned “a botanical space combining elegance and sophistication overlooking the sea”. Thus, she designed the pergola structures and all the equipment around this theme as an extension of Le Negresco.
The famed hotel is known for its constant pursuit of excellence, including being awarded the title "Living Heritage Company", an extremely exclusive distinction granted to honour companies for the excellence of their traditional and industrial know-how. This traditional know-how extended to their Beach Club, where they enlisted the help of the best specialists to provide the finest service.
Hervé Frézal, a florist and MOF, or 'Best of France,' is in charge of floristry, while their highly decorated Chef, Virginie Basselot, also a MOF, the restaurant offers a range of dishes to be shared, as well as a surf and turf menu: fish by the weight, beautiful pieces of matured meats. Chef Basselot is meticulous about choosing her food suppliers from among the best available and local.
Fan of Lobster rolls? La Plage du Negresco is the only place in Nice you'll find the Homer Lobster Roll, which was awarded best “Lobster Roll” in the world in 2018. Enjoy one from your sunbed or at a shaded lounge table. The "Finger Food" lounge menu is available all day and the kids will have plenty to enjoy as well, with a tasty and creative platter created just for them.
